Ground Beef Noodle Casserole

I know, not an exciting recipe title. But it is what it is. I got the recipe off of allrecipes.com. We like it because it has flavor. So many recipes are made for the masses and we like things to taste like something, not just putting something into our mouths.

Ground Beef Noodle Casserole
recipe adapted from allrecipes.com (no longer on their site)

1 pkg dry brown gravy mix
1 cup cold water
1 pound ground beef
1 small onion, diced
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 (14 ounce) jar spaghetti sauce
1/2 cup half and half cream
1/2 tsp oregano
1/2 tsp dried basil
1/2 tsp dried thyme
1/2 tsp dried rosemary
salt/pepper to taste
8 ounces egg noodles, cooked and drained
2/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese, divided

In a small bowl, combine gravy mix and water until smooth; set aside. In a large skillet, cook the beef, onion and garlic over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain. Add spaghetti sauce, cream, seasonings and gravy; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer 15 minutes.

Add the noodles and 1/3 cup of Parmesan cheese; mix well. Transfer to a greased 3 qt baking dish; sprinkle with remaining Parmesan. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until heated through.

I guess the best way to think of this is a better version of hamburger helper. A lot less preservatives and much tastier.
